Time Flies.....



 

A snapshot,

from half a lifetime and then some ago.

I remember sitting in the fly shop, 

watching and listening, 

as he told stories and tied his flies.

    Used to live in western MT - fished the Little Blackfoot and the Clark Fork at Deerlodge when I worked in Anaconda. Had some great days fishing caddis on those rivers using his patterns. One memorable time I was able to fish the whole caddis hatch from deep subsurface, emergers and dries in the space of about two hours. Caught too many to count and walked away amazed. Can look over at the bookshelf and see his books waiting for another perusal.

    Very cool. I only met him at shows, but what a true great. One can only imagine what more he could have taught us all.

    Les: Thanks for sharing. I'm sure a memorable encounter. I have two of his books signed but never got to meet him and listen to him like you. His books ooze enthusiasm for everything not just angling. Time does fly but there are many more rivers to cross. A new yr is just around the corner; many possibilities. Bob

      Bob, likewise looking forward to the new year and revisiting the "trapline" of seasonal fishing locales, and, maybe adding few more stops along the way. Hopefully we'll see more normal opportunities for travel.
